Solution details

Active Refrigerated Container Monitoring

See Temperature and Container Location Together

Review current and historical temperature readings alongside container location to understand where an exception occurred and which shipment requires attention.

Fleet.Net temperature-monitoring map for refrigerated cargo

Monitor Separate Container Zones

Place supported wired or wireless temperature sensors in the areas that need independent monitoring, then review each zone with its own configured limits.

Refrigerated container monitoring architecture

Preserve Records When Coverage Is Unavailable

Supported devices retain temperature and location records locally during cellular coverage gaps and upload them to Fleet.Net after service returns.

Wireless temperature sensor with solar-powered transmitter and temperature probe

Investigate Temperature and Door Exceptions

Notify designated team members when readings move outside configured high or low limits, or when a supported door event requires attention.

Fleet.Net refrigerated-container temperature alerts

Maintain Temperature History and Reports

Review time-stamped temperature history, container location, supported door events, and exceptions for quality, customer, and compliance workflows.

Temperature Summary Report showing dated probe readings and thresholds, with addresses redacted

Faster Response Time

With active refrigeration monitoring and real-time alerts, you can immediately take action when temperatures deviate from your set thresholds. Whether your product is on board a vessel, en route, or at a fixed location, you are always in control.

Wireless Temperature Sensors for Refrigerated Container Monitoring

The temperature sensors are small and can easily fit inside the Supply air vent (as seen in the picture). The temperature sensor is actually inside the vent while the solar unit sits just outside the vent so that it can better interface with the devices that pickup the data from the sensor.

Dedicated App for Temperature Monitoring

“When reefers are left over the weekend at the freight or main office, the reefer technician can monitor both locations using the mobile app. If you have reefers running at either location, your technicians can set up alerts to notify them if:

  • The reefer loses connection with the monitoring device (Piccolo).
  • The reefer gets warmer than the desired temperature.

Technicians can also access the current temperatures of any actively monitored reefer.

Benefits

Safer Monitoring for Ship Crews

Safer for Ship’s Crew

At sea, walking up and down to take temperature readings is not always safe, which is why it’s done only every few hours. With this system, a technician will know in advance if a reefer is in trouble before making their rounds.

Built for Refrigerated Container Operations

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is reefer trailer temperature monitoring?

Reefer trailer temperature monitoring helps carriers cut the risk of cargo loss and asset damage and minimize temperature-related spoilage costs. It ensures cargo temperatures stays within the acceptable range with the use of sensors to alert if any sudden temperature changes occur.

What is a GPS temperature monitoring device?

A GPS temperature monitoring device is one that combines GPS tracking, telematics and reefer temperature control in one solution.

Can I monitor different cold zones inside the reefer?

Our Piccolo STX is capable of monitoring up to 6 different cold zones simultaneously with wired digital temperature sensors. We also offer wireless temperature sensors to monitor multiple compartments at once.

What are the benefits of refrigerated trailer tracking?

The benefits of refrigerated trailer tracking include gaining visibility & control into the location and temperature status of your perishable assets as they move through the cold chain, while reducing operational costs & cutting the risk of cargo loss and asset damage.

What is the difference between a GPS temperature sensor and a GPS temperature monitoring device?

A GPS temperature sensor and a GPS temperature monitoring device are basically interchangeable definitions. Both systems help monitor real-time temperature while providing GPS fleet data.
