FAQ

The ELD HOS mandate, or ELD Final Rule, is a U.S. federal government regulation specifying that operators of commercial motor vehicles covered by this law will be required to use electronic logging devices, or ELDs.

ELD electronic logging device is designed to record data related to operation of the vehicle and to driver activity. Electronic logging devices (ELD) synchronizes with a vehicle engine to automatically record driving time, for easier, more accurate hours of service (HOS) recording.

Electronic driver logs for ELD devices are tamper-resistant devices that are integrated into commercial vehicle engines. They are intended to ensure that commercial drivers drive within their daily limit and accurately log their working hours. The devices track when and how long drivers have been at the wheel, and ensure they are complying with the Hours of Service Regulations.

Bluetooth ELD devices are ELD devices that send the vehicle’s ECM engine data to the HOS app on the driver’s mobile through Bluetooth communication. Bluetooth communication allow for full in-cabin portability and for full communication.

HOS or hours of service mainly concerns the driver information. ELD’s automatically record driving time, for easier, more accurate hours of service (HOS) recording. Commercial truckers are restricted to a maximum number of hours they are allowed to drive between rest periods. HOS is a permanent record of driving hours, on-duty hours (when drivers are working but not driving) and rest time, over the course of a trip.

An Elog app is the app where commercial drivers view their current and remaining  hours of service records under the ELD mandate. HOS is a permanent record of driving hours, on-duty hours (when drivers are working but not driving) and rest time, over the course of a trip.

The Elog software is installed on the Elog app and allows drivers to view their current and remaining on duty status for the shift and cycle.

The ELD log book allows drivers to view their current and remaining on duty status for the shift and cycle for the HOS ELD mandate.
