• Introducing the All New Mini IoT Tag for Small Equipment & Power Tool Tracking

In our 20 years of operations, we have acquired tens of thousands of customers who use our telematics and GPS tracking and fleet management system to track large assets, trailers, heavy machinery and the like. What we have found out over the years is that most of our customers have lots of smaller tools and equipment that they use on a daily basis and most of these smaller less expensive tools are either not being tracked at all, or are being tracked in a separate platform or with excel sheets.

Most of our customers said they they lack visibility, who has what, where is it and who is accountable for it. They simply do not have this information.

In relation to this, we wanted our customers to easily manage and centralize the tracking of all their assets in one place. We wanted them to gain the visibility they are lacking and to improve their tracking.

In the past few months we have been working on our new tracking solution to help you manage your small tools and equipment within the same familiar Fleet.Net platform.

Hardware

The new solution includes mini IoT tags to place on your small tools. We offer waterproof and rugged devices for rain, snow, sleet or shine. The battery life lasts up to 3 years, so you don’t have to worry about battery maintenance.

Mobile

We know that the small tools constantly move around. Drivers are constantly on the job and the tools don’t stay in one place. Through our mobile app dispatchers and drivers can manage their fleet and tools from anywhere. The platform is automatic so the moment a driver picks up a tool or equipment, the tool’s position will automatically update in your system along with who has the tool and where they are located. This will firstly help provide insight and visibility into your inventory and secondly, build accountability.

Automation

As we mentioned above, most of our customers manage their small tools and equipment in spreadsheets or papers or they don’t manage them at all.

Our new system automates equipment management, making it so much easier to manage and gain visibility and keep track of your fleet and tools. As mentioned, the tools automatically pair to a driver once they are picked up.

When a job is completed, if a tool is forgotten once the vehicle starts moving, drivers get a message to their mobile, alerting them of the missing tool.

As the system is automated, loss or theft of your tools is drastically reduced.

Conclusion

The new small tool and equipment management solution was designed to centralize all of your assets into one platform.  There is no need for separate systems for vehicle management, asset tracking and small tool tracking. All your assets can now be tracked in one central location. This will help you improve your tracking, increase accountability across your company and also reduce theft or loss, allowing you to work more efficiently.
